Sydney’s Earth Hour blackout for climate change

One hour of darkness fell upon Autralia’s largest city tonight, from 1930 (7:30pm) local time to raise awareness for global warming.  Good for Sydney!  I applaud the way in which cities are taking the lead on promoting and dealing with climate change, even while some national governments are dragging their feet on this topic.

  1. That’s a great idea. I wonder how our mayor would respond to the idea

  2. It would be great to follow Sydney’s example: I know many people in various countries joined in when Paris turned its lights out before the last IPCC SPM was released. There’s another SPM due on Good Friday (04.06.07) and I wonder if there will be another public show of support then?

I think perhaps I shall raise this at our next Town Forum meeting at Windsor Guildhall to see whether we could turn the lights off here in our Royal Borough. Hmmm …
