Sydney’s Earth Hour blackout for climate change
March 31, 2007 at 2:58 pm | In Australia, Climate awareness, Climate change, Global warming, Sydney | 2 CommentsOne hour of darkness fell upon Autralia’s largest city tonight, from 1930 (7:30pm) local time to raise awareness for global warming. Good for Sydney! I applaud the way in which cities are taking the lead on promoting and dealing with climate change, even while some national governments are dragging their feet on this topic.

That’s a great idea. I wonder how our mayor would respond to the idea

It would be great to follow Sydney’s example: I know many people in various countries joined in when Paris turned its lights out before the last IPCC SPM was released. There’s another SPM due on Good Friday (04.06.07) and I wonder if there will be another public show of support then?
I think perhaps I shall raise this at our next Town Forum meeting at Windsor Guildhall to see whether we could turn the lights off here in our Royal Borough. Hmmm …
