Mallard ducklings on River Thames at Windsor

The lads think the thrush who nests in our elder tree is very smart: she watches us approaching her nest near our front door, but stays on guard … at a short distance … until we move away, then she swoops down to feed her brood of nestlings. As yet, we have no reasonable photo, so all we can show you are the robin and ducklings today. Enjoy!
P.S. It’s 11:30pm and we just heard some fireworks

We saw a mother mallard standing on the bank at Stow Lake yesterday. It took a moment to notice the downy ball of four ducklings curled up next to her.
Happy 4th (a day late!)
