My daughter’s headmaster took a group of parents on a guided walk through London in September 2007. We reached Green Park, the last of several parks we had walked through since meeting at Waterloo, and were on our way home via Paddington. The Master turned to those of us closest to him and asked “Why do you think Green Park is so named?” No immediate response, so I blurted out “Because it’s so-o-o-o … green!” then regretted opening my mouth. My mind was, in fact, flooded with answers—green is not just a colour, it represents nature, natural, fresh, refreshing, rejuvenating, all the good things in life, life itself, vital … none of which I could sequence to make any sense at that point, as the greenness itself was completely overwhelming!

Thanks for your support. Occasionally, a ’stream of consciousness’ spoken outloud is more revealing than a well-constructed, planned response.
