Richmond, RBWM and Wandsworth take Heathrow to High Court over night flights

Richmond council in south-west London, backed by Wandsworth and Windsor & Maidenhead councils, claims many current night flights break the Government’s own noise rules.
The authorities will present their Judicial Review case at London’s High Court on May 20, a spokesman for Richmond council said.
He added: “The council contends that the current night-flights regime is illegal as some of the flights are noisier than are allowed by the Government’s own rules.
“If successful, it (the case) could force Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly to slash the number of aircraft allowed to arrive at Heathrow before 6am.”
