Women Know Your Limits

One of my favourites from Harry Enfield!

This is for the girls I know (and many more besides) who are advised by women, and intimidated by peers, against enjoying and being good at mathematics, physics, chemistry, and engineering. Law and medicine are not your only options: there are alternatives worth exploring, and you do not have to become a science teacher in a girls’ school, but you would do well to find an advocate to give you the inside scoop on the science track.

P.S.  Whatever you choose, a jolly good sense of humour helps 😉

  1. Your students should also be encouraged to know that, in the process of contacting a number of climate scientists, I have found that there are a large number of women active in this field, including some of its most highly-respected exponents. This is an area of scientific research and involvement which seems to hold no traditional barriers for advancement to the ‘gentle sex’. 🙂
