This 2007 monthly weather summary Met Office page is the best place to start for official UK monthly rainfall, sunshine and temperature charts. (A student was asking where the latest weather graphs might be found.)

More past weather and climate statistics for Britain and eXtreme wEather may be interesting for your summer holiday projects too.  You can see that we are very used to extremes here on our warm, wet, sunny, dry, island home!

You are right that April was pretty dry and June does look likely to be the wettest on record. However, I would wait to see the published figures in charts such as the one below before shouting it from these wettest of wet rooftops!
