Happy Memorial Day and Spring Bank Holiday weekend!

May 23, 2008 at 12:02 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

The last Monday in May is one of the few days, along with Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, that America and Britain share as public holidays.

So I wish you all a good three-day weekend, on both sides of the Atlantic!

Forget the traditional start of the U.S. summer driving season—we don’t have that in Britain.  Instead, we are offered engineering* works on railways, and traffic jams on our roads, while the weather is meant to be entertaining (i.e. changeable).  Home, or thereabouts, is definitely the best place to be.

* now remarketed on the Tube under the more pleasing term “improvement works” which hints that they may well affect your journey today, but should make future travel better, so you’d better not grumble 😉

  1. I will definitely not be driving anywhere on Monday! We are going to a local music festival. It’s an annual event and it’s always excellent.

I hope you and yours a great holiday too Inel.
