31 May 2008 is a perfect day for a carnival!
The weather forecast for Heathrow area this weekend makes a change from recent rain.
I just received this update by email:
There’s just two days to go before the Make A NOise Carnival and it’s getting bigger and better all the time. We don’t want to jinx things, but the weather forecast at the moment is predicting sunshine!
Just to remind you, here’s everything you need to know about the day:
Meet at Hatton Cross tube station on the Piccadilly Line (map).
12 noon on Saturday 31st May 2008.
What’s the plan?
The Carnival will make its way from Hatton Cross around the edge of Heathrow airport to Sipson – the village that will be destroyed if the third runway goes ahead. This is a journey of about two and a half miles.
We will then spell out a giant human “NO” to expansion at Heathrow, in Sipson War Memorial Ground. And after you’ve helped us create the biggest and loudest NO the world has ever seen, you can hear from speakers and enjoy the street-party in Sipson village with stalls, food, drink, and plenty for the children.
When will it end?
The NO should be over by around 3.30pm. The activities in Sipson will continue into the early evening, ending at 7pm.
What should I bring?
Water, packed lunch, suncream if it’s sunny, an umbrella if it’s rainy, banners, musical instruments, your friends, your family and your MP!
Will it be legal?
Yes. This is an entirely peaceful and legal event that has been organised in liaison with the Metropolitan Police.
How do we get there?
We’re encouraging everyone to come by public transport. Hatton Cross is on the Piccadilly tube line and can also be reached on various local buses. Check Transport for London’s Journey Planner for the best way to get there.
And how do we get home?
A limited shuttle coach will run between Sipson and Hounslow West tube station every 15 minutes after 6pm. Various public bus services also run along the Bath Road, just south of Sipson village, which will take you to the nearest tube stations.
Is the day accessible?
Remember to visit www.make-a-noise.org and invite your MP!
Looking forward to seeing you there,
