… but do read the original testimony by Dr. James Hansen first!

The original briefing before the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, U.S. House of Representatives is posted on Dr. Hansen’s website:

Global Warming Twenty Years Later: Tipping Points Near

If you are new to this topic and/or only have time to read one testimony on climate change this year, do make it this one.  (Yes, you can tell I am British, because I use the emphatic “do” in the sense that indicates insistence and encouragement in polite English company.)

If you want even more from James Hansen, here’s the key excerpt from his site, with relevant links:

June 2008: Global Warming Twenty Years Later: Tipping Points Near (70 kB PDF): Briefing before the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, U.S. House of Representatives, and also presented at the National Press Club on June 23. Related slides are available in PDF (2.9 MB) or PowerPoint (7.1 MB).

And now, for the pièce de résistance by Horatio Algeranon:

Hansen’s Soliloquy

Don’t let Hansen feel as though he is talking to himself.  Please spread the word about his testimony, in order to get urgent action to combat climate change.

  1. Hi,

We build castles of snow, and weep to see them melt.

Time for this fraud to end.

  2. Dear icanplainlysee,

I haven’t heard from you for a long time. I guess it’s because I have been writing about proposals for Heathrow expansion and events at Windsor Castle which are not your cup of tea. Well, I agree with you that fraudulent activity should end so we can get on with combatting climate change with immediate and substantial effect.
